The Élections Québec register lists **20 authorized provincial political parties** as of August 24, 2026.
The five parties generally described as the main ones in election coverage are the Coalition avenir Québec, the Parti libéral du Québec, Québec solidaire, the Parti québécois and the Parti conservateur du Québec. The official register also includes fifteen other authorized parties.
This authorization does not mean that a party will necessarily field a candidate in each of the 127 ridings. Nor does it mean that all of its announced candidates have already been accepted. Authorizing a party and accepting a nomination paper are two separate steps.
The register provides each party's official name, the date of its authorization, the name of its registered leader and, where relevant, its number of members. Names may change, so the entity's identifier should be kept rather than creating a new party each time a name changes.
For its 2026 coverage, LeQuébecVote.ca applies the same verification rules to represented and unrepresented parties. The depth of the profiles may vary with the amount of official data available, but the existence of an authorized party must not be artificially left out.
