Quebec's 2026 electoral map will have 127 ridings

The next general election will be held with a new map of **127 ridings**, up from 125 at the 2022 election. Two new ridings are added: **Bellefeuille**, in the greater Laurentides and Lanaudière region, and **Marie-Lacoste-Gérin-Lajoie**, in the greater Estrie and Centre-du-Québec region. Élections Québec also indicates that 39 ridings were changed. The final map was set by the National Assembly following the adoption of a law. It differs on certain points from the decision previously published by the Commission de la représentation électorale. The official files include, among other things, a list of ridings, geographic data and socio-economic profiles based on the 2021 Census. This change has an important consequence for interpreting historical results. The official 2022 results were counted in the 125 former ridings. They cannot be assigned automatically to the new 2026 boundaries. For changed or new ridings, a comparison requires a documented transposition method or, failing that, a clear warning.
