**Marie-Lacoste-Gérin-Lajoie** is one of two new ridings added to Quebec's electoral map for 2026.
It is created in the greater Estrie and Centre-du-Québec region. According to Élections Québec, the number of electors in this greater region has grown by 8.8% since the previous map was drawn, compared with 4.8% Quebec-wide. Adding a riding is meant to correct this relative under-representation.
The name honours Marie Lacoste Gérin-Lajoie, a pioneer of the Quebec feminist movement and a campaigner for women's right to vote. Élections Québec notes that her work had an influence across Quebec, even though she had no particular tie to the territory of the new riding.
Because Marie-Lacoste-Gérin-Lajoie did not exist at the 2022 election, no official result from that year carries this name or these boundaries. Results from the former ridings that its territory comes from can provide context, but they are not the result of the new riding.
